A Christmas Poem

Shared by Rev. Christie Hardwick

Christmas is lingering in my heart
The sparkle of decorations
The sound of Johnny Mathis and
Luther on their Christmas CD’s
I feel so hopeful this time of year
Unlike those who hit bottom
When yuletide comes around

Its not the baby Jesus
That I place in the manger
Its not the presents
Except for those I give
Its the inexplicable
Sense of a fresh start

Another Christmas
And everything seems perfect
Anything seems possible
Even while the needles fall
And the tree no longer
Begs for water

Christmas lingers
And I cling
To the gifts
I cannot see.
